The Blackwood Valley Wine Industry Association represents grape growers and wine producers within the picturesque Blackwood Valley Region, located between the Margaret River Wine Region and the Great Southern Wine Region in the southwest of WA. The region includes the historic settlements of Boyup Brook, Bridgetown, Greenbushes, Balingup and Nannup and the beautiful Blackwood River.
The region boasts over 50 vineyards, covering an area of more than 450 hectares, that flourish in the gravelly loam soils and ideal climatic conditions. Cabernet and Shiraz varieties grown in the region are characterised by distinctive earthy undertones, while fruit and honey flavours denote the white wine varieties being produced.
The Blackwood Wine Region is rapidly gaining deserved recognition from across Australia and internationally for its high quality fruit and premium wines.
The region hosts the annual Blackwood Valley & Western Australian Boutique Wine Show which is held in October and is open to all boutique wine producers across the state.
The show provides recognition for the premium wines being tailored by boutique producers and a chance for the public to get a taste of the Blackwood Valley.
Come and experience the Blackwood Valley Wine Region for a unique escape from the well-trodden wine paths and taste the difference. You can even take a bottle of the state's best kept secret home with you.
